Today I want to talk about fear, in particular the fear of going on camera. Lots of people are putting off making the leap into video because they’re afraid, they’re nervous in front of a camera. And I can understand why. The first time I did it and the first time I watched myself back I didn’t like it at all. I didn’t like the way I sounded, and I certainly didn’t like the way I looked. It took me quite some time to try again, I knew I had to do it, but I wasn’t comfortable.
The way I got over it was by recording videos and watching them myself. It’s a little tip but it gets you used to the sound of your own voice. Because let’s be honest the only time we hear our own voice is when it’s in our head, we don’t hear it played back to us very often. It’s the same for our appearance. When we look in the mirror we see a mirror image we don’t actually see what we look like. It’s tough but if you watch yourself time and time and time again you will get used to how you look and how you sound.
The other tip that can help you is to record a couple of videos and give them to people you trust in your family or maybe some close friends. Ask them to watch the videos for you and give you some feedback. When they start telling you that they really enjoyed your video, telling you that the content was great you’ll feel better. It will give you the confidence to do more. This really helped me,
